i-PoWeR Professional Workforce Registry

The Definition: Iowa’s Early Childhood and School Age Care Professional Workforce Registry (I–PoWeR) is a web-based training and professional development repository of individuals’ professional achievements and new opportunities for learning.  Anyone can search, view, enroll, and track successfully-completed trainings.  The information is stored in one centralized location and is available to use as a paperless record of completion. 

The Purpose:   Iowa’s Early Childhood and School Age Care Professional Workforce Registry (I–PoWeR) allows statewide access of HHS approved  trainings.  The system tracks approved trainings which have been completed by participants. This helps Iowa regulators, programs, and systems track professional development requirement completion.  

The Goal:
 Iowa’s Early Childhood and School Age Care Professional Workforce Registry (I–PoWeR)

  • Allows participants the ability to:  search, view, and enroll in approved trainings
  • Allows participants to track their own training history
  • Allows the public to view Registered Child Development Home Providers or Licensed Child Care Center staff training history
  • Allows professional development providing organizations to approve adult educators for a training
  • Promotes approved training opportunities
  • Displays approved training opportunities in a centralized location
  • Allows the display of credentials and accreditations

The Audience:

  • All participants can:
    • search for, view, and enroll in approved trainings
    • view training history
  • Adult Educators can:
    • apply to train a training
    • search for, view, and enroll in approved trainings
    • view training history
  • Professional Development Organization staff can:
    • create training summaries 
    • borrow training summaries 
    • schedule classes, series and conferences
    • manage enrollments, waiting lists, and attendance
  • The Iowa Department of Health & Human Services can:
    • evaluate Registered Child Development Home Providers, Licensed Child Care Center staff, or Child Care Homes Receiving CCA training history and qualification
